Responsibilities

• Work on the 4th Floor North Med/Surg Neuro unit in a 25-bed hospital.
• Care for Med/Surg, neuro, post-neurosurgery, stroke and telemetry patients.
• Monitor patients with drips and telemetry; use PCA pumps.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure patient-first care and safety.
• Participate in unit orientation and weekend scheduling; provide cross-unit float as needed.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro unit night shift position requiring a NE or compact RN license and strong neuro/telemetry experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting on the 4th Floor North Med/Surg Neuro unit
• Patient population includes Med/Surg, neuro, post-neurosurgery, stroke, and telemetry overflow cases
• Unit has 25 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips are titrated; PCA pumps are used
• Mechanical lifts are available in every other room
• RNs will work 12-hour night shifts and are scheduled every other weekend
• Holiday coverage required for 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's
• Floating to other medical surgical units or to units with Med/Surg patients may be required
• EPIC is used for charting; experience preferred but not required
• Unit focuses on high patient turnover with frequent admissions and discharges
• Strong teamwork, attendance, and patient-first attitude are essential for success
• Tele techs are present; RNs must have basic telemetry awareness but are not required to interpret strips
• 2 days of unit-specific orientation provided
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Artificial nails are prohibited for all patient care staff
• Unit serves a culturally diverse patient population
• First-time travelers with strong experience will be considered
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility as verified by driver's license
