American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a night-shift position in Beatrice, Nebraska, caring for geriatric patients in a 19-bed unit. The role requires a NE or compact RN license and entails 7:00pm to 7:00am shifts with every third weekend and holiday.

We expect at least 2 years of RN med/surg experience, BLS/ACLS, and proficiency with telemetry and Epic EMR. In-house hospitalist coverage is available; no hospice rotation for travelers. Per diems and stipends apply.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg position caring primarily for geriatric patients, requiring a NE or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is in an acute care medical-surgical unit with 19 private beds
• 7:00pm to 7:00am night shifts with every third weekend and holiday required
• Patient ratios are 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights
• Population includes a large geriatric (>65) group as well as patients with orthopedic, respiratory, infectious, and wound care needs
• Common diagnoses include post-op ortho, pneumonia, sepsis, influenza, cellulitis, wound care, inpatient hospice (hospice excluded for travelers), and pediatric RSV
• Unit uses Epic EMR system
• Telemetry data monitoring is performed and RNs must interpret telemetry strips
• Care involves insulin drips and Cardizem drips; vents are not utilized on the unit
• In-house hospitalist or intensivist coverage available
• No floating required
• Travelers will not be assigned inpatient hospice patients
• Charge nurse acts as team lead and also takes patients
• Support from CNA staff is provided, typically 1 per shift or 2 on weekday day shifts
• RN scrub color is navy blue
• Patient-centered care and bedside shift reporting are standard
• 2-day unit-specific orientation provided
• Every third holiday coverage is expected
• RT available 24/7; pharmacy is in-house during the day and remote after hours
