Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois. This role is a 13-week assignment at 36 hours per week with night shifts in Med/Surg.

The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of acute care experience, BLS and NIH certifications, and will perform patient assessments, medication administration, documentation and patient education in a fast-paced travel environment.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• NIH certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications, reporting adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Aids physician during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plan.
