Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois. This Med/Surg RN position is 13 weeks, 36 hours per week, with a 12-hour day shift.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of acute care experience and BLS. You will perform bedside assessments, administer medications, assist with procedures, and support patients and families while working in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience required.
• BLS certification required.
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Educates patients on surgical procedures.
• Participates in discharge planning and initiates patient education plan as prescribed by physician.
