American Traveler is seeking a registered nurse for a Med/Surg night shift travel assignment in Peoria, Illinois. This 13-week role requires an active IL RN license, BLS, and Med/Surg experience. Night shifts are 12 hours, with a 36-hour work week and a three-shift pattern.

No call and no vaccine requirement apply for this assignment. Unit features an 18-bed Med/Surg Acute Care environment with mostly private rooms. Epic EMR and Phillips telemetry are used.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Acute Care night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Hospital acute care setting on the Med/Surg Acute Care Unit
• 18-bed unit with mostly private rooms
• General medical patient population with a variety of diagnoses
• Nurse to patient ratios: 4-5:1 on days, 5-6:1 on nights
• Work schedule is 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), three shifts per week
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• Travel RNs are first to float to other units as needed
• Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift with a unit preceptor
• Unit uses Epic EMR
• Uses Phillips telemetry equipment for remote monitoring
• RNs are expected to start IVs and utilize unit resources as needed
• Two PCTs per shift assist with patient care
• 24/7 charge RN and house supervisor coverage
• Unit dress code allows any color scrubs except pediatric patterns
• No call required for this position
• No COVID-19 vaccine requirement for this assignment
• Local candidates are accepted at a different rate if residing within 50 miles

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification from AHA required
• Minimum of 1 year recent hospital Med/Surg experience preferred
• Ability to titrate Heparin drips
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
