Job summary

Focus Staff is seeking a Travel Mammography Technologist for a 13-week assignment in Leonardtown, MD. You will perform screening and diagnostic mammography, ensuring accurate imaging and patient comfort under ARRT-M certification requirements.

Requires graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, ARRT and Mammography credentials, BLS, and 1–2 years of Mammography experience. Travel and housing stipends, and 401(k) benefits accompany this role.

• Current ARRT certification required
• Current Mammography certification (ARRT-M) required
• Current state licensure if required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum 1-2 years of recent Mammography Technologist experience preferred
• Experience performing screening and diagnostic mammography procedures preferred

Responsibilities

• Uses AIDET when communicating with patients to identify service requirements and establish rapport.
• Instructs patients and families about the tests to be performed and tolerability.
• Positions patients and adjusts equipment for mammography procedures.
• Adheres to safety, infection-control, and radiation policies.
• Coordinates with engineers/physicists to optimize equipment operation.
• Maintains documentation such as requisitions, patient history, and shielding information.

Mammo Tech Requirements:

Mammo Tech Responsibilities:

• Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to: identify patient service requirements, ensure correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport with patients and others.
• Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patient's family regarding the test to be performed and assesses patient's ability to tolerate exam.
• Prepares patient or area for mammography procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, protocols and techniques. Uses proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive mammography procedures and maintains hand hygiene requirements.
• Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment. Reports issues to management or appropriate department.
• Obtains, verifies and maintains all relevant documentation such as requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status and shielding precautions taken, consent forms, etc.
