Job summary

Hire Energy is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a correctional setting in Groesbeck, TX. This 13-week travel contract offers a starting hourly rate of $38.00 plus per diem based on distance traveled.

Responsibilities include dispensing medications, patient assessments, and collaboration with physicians. Requirements include an active LPN license (Georgia or Compact), BLS, and at least 1 year of correctional nursing experience.

Qualifications

• LPN license in Georgia or Compact Multi-License.
• BLS certification required.
• 1+ years of correctional nursing experience preferred.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Apply nursing skills in inmate care.
• Dispense medications and document per policies.
• Attend sick calls with physicians and prepare examinations.
• Assess new inmates/residents and refer to ER as needed.
• Monitor inpatient hospitalizations for early releases when appropriate.
• Evaluate medical service provision to prevent misuse or duplication.
• Perform emergency procedures and notify providers.
• Supervise nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
• Conduct health screenings, assessments, and triage for inmates.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Maintain medical histories and vital signs.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare staff.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care.
• Maintain accurate medical records per facility policies.
• Educate inmates on health-related issues.

Job description

Position: Licensed Practical Nurse -LPN

Location: Groesbeck, TX

Schedule: 13-Week Travel Contracts

Pay - Starting hourly $38.00 with a Per Diem, calculated on distance traveled

What You’ll Do:

As a Correctional Nurse, you’ll be at the forefront of compassionate care in a correctional center at Limestone County Detention Center. Your daily tasks will include but are not limited to the following:

• Apply appropriate nursing skills in the area and treatment of inmates/residents.
• Operate pill calls, dispense medication, and document as required by applicable policies and/or procedures
• Attend sick calls with the physician to see inmates/residents; prepare a list of inmates/residents to be examined; prepare examining room and equipment.
• Examine and assess new inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries or inmates/residents who become ill or injured; refer inmates/residents to the emergency room or other appropriate healthcare facilities as required by their condition.
• Monitor, as directed, inmate/resident inpatient hospitalizations for early releases whenever appropriate
• Regularly evaluate the provision of medical services to prevent the inappropriate use or duplication of those services
• Perform emergency procedures as needed and notify Licensed Independent Providers for treatment orders.
• Provide guidance, supervise, and monitor nursing care provided by licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff

Requirements
