Job Summary

Labor and Delivery Nurse in a hospital setting. This role involves collaborating with the healthcare team to provide high-quality care to obstetric patients. The nurse will be responsible for assessing patient needs, implementing individualized care plans, and supporting families through labor and delivery processes.

  • Required Qualifications: Montana Licensure (Registered Nurse), American Heart Association Basic Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (recertification every 2 years), Electronic Fetal Monitoring Series Certificate of Completion (or equivalent AWHONN approved course) (not required if a Lactation RN), American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (not required if a Lactation RN), competence in and ability to practice modified primary nursing, two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education.
  • Preferred Qualifications: One year labor and delivery experience.
  • Essential Job Functions:
    • Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patients health or the situation (Assessment)
    • Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues (Diagnosis)
    • Develops an individualized plan of care with expected outcomes
    • Implements the plan and provides patient education and support during labor and delivery
    • Promotes health and safety, and collaborates with families and the healthcare team
    • Continuously evaluates and improves nursing practice standards
    • Demonstrates professional judgment, patience, and adaptability in a busy environment
  • Schedule Requirements: This position requires regular attendance with shifts lasting 12 hours, at least 36 hours per week, including possible weekends and after-hours, and on-call responsibilities.
  • Physical Requirements: Repeatedly lifts up to 50 pounds, stands, walks, and performs various physical activities essential for patient care. Visual acuity and cognitive skills are needed for effective performance.
  • Additional Information: The facility reserves the right to cancel three (3) shifts per 13-week contract due to census or unforeseen circumstances. Candidates must reside at least 90 miles from the facility.
