iDEAL Hire is seeking a travel nurse RN for Labor & Delivery in Charlotte, North Carolina. The position is a contract travel assignment with 3x12-hour night shifts, onsite, for 26 weeks, with a 36-hour work week.

The ideal candidate has active NC (or Compact) RN licensure, 2+ years in L&D, and proficiency in circulating and newborn care. BCLS, AWHONN fetal monitoring, and NRP are required; EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in NC or Compact state.
• Minimum 2 years L&D experience; 3 years preferred.
• Experience in high-volume setting with >300 births/month.
• Proficiency in circulating, sterile vaginal exams, and newborn care.
• Current BCLS, AWHONN Fetal Monitoring, NRP certifications.
• Familiarity with PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR.

Responsibilities

• Provide intrapartum, antepartum, and postpartum care.
• Manage high-volume labor and delivery workflows.
• Perform sterile exams, newborn care, and obstetrical triage.
• Support Cesarean births and OR circulating duties.
• Administer outpatient procedures and fetal surveillance.
• Floating to high-risk OB unit as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care for obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater, as well as high-risk patients under 16 weeks
• Manage double labor assignments in a high-volume, fast-paced birthing care environment averaging 20 births and 30–40 admissions per 24-hour period
• Perform and assist with sterile vaginal exams, immediate newborn care, and obstetrical triage screening prior to admission
• Support scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage procedures, including circulating in the OR as needed
• Administer outpatient procedures including antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration
• Float to the Special Maternity Care high-risk OB unit as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state
• Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience; 3 years strongly preferred
• Prior experience in a high-volume setting with greater than 300 births per month
• Proficiency in circulating, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care
• Current BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, and NRP certifications required
• Familiarity with PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR documentation systems

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience circulating in an obstetrical OR setting
• Previous travel nursing experience in a large, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit
• Comfort managing high-acuity patients and adapting quickly in an unpredictable, fast-paced environment
