Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment in Texas. Requires at least 2 years of L&D experience, including circulating and transitioning newborns, with TX or compact RN licensure. Night shift 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, with travel housing and licensure benefits.

Certified in BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, NRP; preferred AWHONN certifications and experience with high-risk antepartum care and fetal monitoring. On-site drug screen and travel reimbursements provided.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience, including circulating and transitioning newborns.
• Previous charge experience required.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, NRP.
• Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM.
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, venous blood draws, and IV/infusion pump management.
• Experience with high-risk antepartum care, hemorrhage/shock management, and fetal monitoring (external and internal, including IUPC placement).
• Experience assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and forceps/vacuum extraction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit in a hospital with 200-300 births per month
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• 36 hours per week preferred, may consider up to 48 hours per week
• Rotates through triage, antepartum, labor, circulating, and transition duties (no post-partum)
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and transition phases
• Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation, and newborn care including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Administer medications including antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and terbutaline
• Manage pain interventions including epidural and general anesthesia support and PCA use
• Perform antepartum procedures such as NST, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical triage
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Local candidates residing within the radius are not accepted for this position
• RTO must be submitted with candidate profile, and some holiday coverage is expected
• Facility conducts an on-site drug screen including marijuana; a positive result results in automatic cancellation
• First-time travelers may be considered with appropriate experience
