Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a Labor and Delivery travel nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment in Henrico, Virginia. The role requires 3 years of acute care experience, ACLS, BLS and PALS certifications, and involves 12-hour night shifts, with 36 hours per week.

The L&D RN will support mothers before, during, and after delivery, assisting physicians during epidurals, episiotomies, and cesarean preparations, and will monitor labor and newborn care throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications required.
• 3 years recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Stay with and monitor patient throughout labor.
• Monitor contractions and assist with breathing techniques.
• Check cervix periodically to monitor progression.
• Ensure beds are kept clean and dry; manage bodily fluids during delivery.
• Assist physician with delivery instruments and preparation for cesarean when needed.
• Provide immediate care for the newborn.
