Job summary

gpac is seeking an experienced Project Manager for heavy civil construction to oversee large earthmoving, utilities, demolition, and site development projects across the Midwest. You will manage projects from pre-construction through completion, working with experienced field teams.

The role demands strong safety focus, quality workmanship, and a commitment to career growth and long-term relationships. Frequent travel and overnight stays are required based on project locations and scheduling

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of project management and/or estimating experience in heavy civil or highway construction.
• Experience with earthmoving, underground utilities, demolition, grading, or site development.
• Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
• Knowledge of estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and cost control.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of heavy equipment and construction methods.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple heavy civil projects from award through completion.
• Assist with estimating, bid preparation, quantity takeoffs, and project planning.
• Develop and track project budgets, schedules, manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Review plans and specifications to identify project requirements and potential challenges.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase requests, and project documentation.
• Monitor job costs, labor, equipment utilization, and profitability.
• Coordinate with superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and customers.
• Resolve issues affecting cost, quality, safety, or schedule.
• Provide project updates to leadership and maintain strong customer relationships.
