Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a fast-paced free-standing emergency department in the United States. Requires 2+ years of ED experience, Epic EMR proficiency, and SC or compact RN licensure. Night shifts, 3x12s, and every-other weekend with no on-call.

Travel experience preferred; housing and licensure reimbursements offered. Expect to complete pre-start training modules and work within a Level II trauma setting with a six-bed ED.

Qualifications

• Active SC RN license or compact license required in hand prior to start.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS (AHA certifications only).
• Minimum 2 years of recent ED experience.
• Previous charge nurse experience required.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Trauma Level I and/or II experience preferred.
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care, IVs, sedation administration/monitoring.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Free-standing Emergency Department with 6 staffed beds.
• General ED treating combined adult/pediatric population.
• Level II Trauma Center handling non-trauma, shock/trauma, and gunshot wound cases.
• Team-based patient ratios.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7p-7a).
• Every other weekend required.
• No on-call requirements.
• May float within scope to sister facilities including MUSC Health Columbia NE or DT campuses.
• Epic EMR used for charting.
• Provide emergency nursing care including triage and isolation precautions/PPE.
• Responsibilities include medication administration and continuous patient monitoring.
• Royal blue scrub color required.
• Candidates should expect to complete approximately 4 hours of pre-start training modules.
• First-time travelers will not be accepted for this position.
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the MUSC system for 1 year before returning as a traveler.
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application, with approval based on facility needs.
• Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis within a 60-mile radius, though non-local candidates are prioritized.
• Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed.
• Travelers may be asked to support emergency response efforts during hurricane season (June through November).
