Job Summary

The Emergency Department (ED) Nurse position is located in Yakima, Washington, at a Level III trauma center that sees approximately 200‑250 ED patients each day. Candidates must bring their license on the first day and will provide high‑quality patient care across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics.

Position Details

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality patient care in a Level III trauma center with an average of 200‑250 patients per day.
• Manage diverse patient populations—neonates to geriatrics—including triage, medication administration, blood product administration, chest tube and arterial line placement, trauma and code response, splinting, Bipap/ventilator management, and ESI application.
• Utilize the Epic EMR system and mandatory barcode medication scanning.
• Assist with point‑of‑care lab testing.
• Maintain patient‑to‑staff ratios ranging from 1:3 to 1:5 based on acuity.
• Work within a fast‑track zone that contains 13 beds in a green zone.
• Complete the hospital triage test before starting triage duties.
• Work 12‑hour evening shifts (3 p.m. – 3 a.m.) with a minimum of 36 hours per week; weekend rotation occurs every other week, with occasional back‑to‑back weekends.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in Washington.
• Certifications in ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and NCC.
• At least 3 years experience in a large, high‑acuity ED.
• Proficiency with Epic EMR.
• Competence in barcode medication scanning, medication drips, blood product administration, triage, chest tube placement, arterial lines, trauma, code, splinting, Bipap/ventilator management, and ESI.

• Pediatric emergency medicine experience.
