Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a travel Echo Technologist for a 13-week assignment in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The role requires ARDMS/CCI registry, BLS, and the ability to perform 9 studies per shift in a high-volume cardiology department.

Shifts are 4x10-hour days (7:00 AM–5:30 PM) with weekend coverage and on-call responsibilities. Travel experience and strong communication are valued; compensation includes a tax-free stipend and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• ARDMS/CCI registered or registry eligible, or comparable national accreditation required
• BLS certification through American Heart Association required
• State Echo Sonographer license required if applicable
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Two-year allied health education program (patient care related) preferred, such as diagnostic medical sonography, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or nursing
• 2 years of experience actively performing echocardiograms preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
• Ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions
• Manual dexterity to perform echocardiograms

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients
• Must be able to perform 9 studies per shift
• Shares responsibility for on-call coverage for echo emergency exams outside of regular hours
• Coordinates scheduling, patient transport, phone communication, and billing entry with related hospital departments
• Assists cardiologists during dictation by preparing and measuring M-modes and relaying pertinent diagnostic information
• Delivers, picks up, and distributes dictations in a timely manner
• Responds to patient needs during exams and reports changes in condition to physician or nurse in charge
• Orders echo supplies and maintains cleanliness and stock of exam rooms
• Logs patients and exams and files patient records
• Participates in departmental and hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities
• Maintains quality control of equipment and coordinates repair services as needed
• Stays current on advances in echocardiography and seeks mentorship from cardiologists
• Assists with other cardiac procedures as needed
