Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring OH or compact RN licensure and prior cardiac ICU experience.

Responsibilities include night shifts (19:00–7:30), 36 hours weekly, rotating holidays, and potential weekend coverage. Epic EMR is used, with care for post-cardiac surgery and complex cardiovascular patients. Travel experience preferred, but local candidates are welcome.

Qualifications

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• 2 years of cardiac ICU experience preferred
• Epic experience required
• Skills required: IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz monitoring, conscious sedation, balloon pump management, and PA line management
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable for the second reference; no coworker references accepted

Responsibilities

• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• 36 hours per week
• Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday for night shift)
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Patient ratios approximately 1:1-2
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular patients including post-cardiac surgery, CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and VAD patients
• Manage patients with IABP, ECMO, Impella, and CVP monitoring as needed
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and manage emergency medications
• Perform sheath removal, epicardial pacing wire care, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Support patients with renal replacement therapy (CRRT/CVVHD) and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Previous travel experience preferred but first-time travelers may be considered
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for assignment consideration after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this health system
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
