CV ICU Nurse – 13-Week Travel Assignment

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CV ICU Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Tucson, AZ. The CV ICU Nurse will provide high-acuity, specialized nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular and cardiothoracic patients while collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary care team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular and cardiothoracic patients.
- Monitor patients requiring continuous hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring.
- Manage complex patients with cardiac, vascular, and cardiothoracic conditions.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies according to orders and hospital protocols.
- Monitor and manage invasive lines, drains, and other critical-care devices.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly initiate appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team during rounds and emergent situations.
- Provide post-operative care for cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical patients.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively during shift handoffs.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, procedures, and recovery.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible to practice in Arizona.
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience, preferably CVICU/CCU or cardiothoracic ICU.
- Strong critical-care assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
- Experience caring for high-acuity cardiovascular patients.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to a new clinical environment and work effectively as a travel nurse.

- Cardiothoracic surgery and post-operative recovery.
- Hemodynamic monitoring and management.
- Mechanical circulatory support and advanced cardiac therapies.
- Ventilator and vasoactive medication management.
- Experience with complex cardiovascular and critically ill patients.
