American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Travel RN for a Telemetry/Stepdown assignment in Wheeling, WV. The role requires a WV or compact RN license and experience in a 30-bed Intermediate Care unit with telemetry monitoring.

The position includes 12-hour rotating shifts, 36 hours per week, and travel benefits such as licensure reimbursement and 401(k) plan. Candidates should be able to titrate vasoactive drips and work across units as needed.

Formación

• Active WV or compact RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years recent stepdown or similar acute care experience.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.

Responsabilidades

• Care in a 30-bed Intermediate Care (Stepdown) Unit within an acute care setting.
• Monitor patients with telemetry and interpret strips.
• Titrate vasoactive drips per protocol (e.g., Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin, Lasix).
• Float to Telemetry or MedSurg units as needed with variable ratios.
• Rotate 12-hour day/night shifts and participate in precepted orientation.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to join an Intermediate Care (Stepdown) Unit, requiring a WV or compact license and strong stepdown/telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 30-bed Intermediate Care (Stepdown) Unit within an acute care setting
• Patient population includes chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, post pacer, pre/post caths, and intermediate care acuity overflow
• Nurse-to-patient ratios generally run 1:5, occasionally up to 1:6
• Patient monitoring is conducted using Nihon Kohden telemetry equipment; RNs must read and interpret own strips
• RNs titrate critical drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetolol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix
• EMR is Allscripts Sunrise; prior experience preferred but not required
• 12-hour rotating day/night shifts, requiring flexibility for both days and nights
• All nursing staff are required to float to Telemetry or MedSurg units as needed, with ratios in MedSurg potentially up to 1:7
• First day HR orientation followed by unit shifts with a preceptor
• Holiday scheduling is flexible; most holidays are typically covered by permanent staff
• Navy blue scrubs with navy jackets are required; hoodies are not permitted
• Staffing support includes charge nurses with patient assignments, clinical assistants, and 24/7 access to IV, RT, and pharmacy teams
• IV initiations are handled by a dedicated IV team
• RNs may care for patients on specialized therapies such as Tikosyn and may be assigned to pandemic units as needed
• Candidates who previously worked with this health system must have a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers cannot work at this health system for longer than a year; a 2-year break is then required

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license is required
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in stepdown or similar acute care setting
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
• Experience with titration of vasoactive drips and telemetry monitoring required
• Must be able to accurately read and interpret telemetry strips
• Must provide a copy of an unexpired driver’s license for consideration
• Subject to a 50-mile radius rule; local travelers not accepted
