Qualifications

• Certification from an accredited ultrasound/sonography school.
• One year of experience as an ultrasound technician/sonographer preferred.
• Current BLS card.
• Current TB test or chest x-ray.
• Current physical exam per state or contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• The cardiac sonographer performs routine and complex echocardiography.
• Prepares and positions patient for echocardiography exam and explains procedure.
• Operates cardiac ultrasound, Doppler and similar equipment to perform procedures under physician guidance.
• Observes the screen during the scan to ensure a satisfactory image for diagnostic purposes.
