Job summary

Centerstone is seeking a Trauma Therapist to provide trauma-focused clinical services to children, adolescents, and families through the C-TGT program. You will deliver standardized assessments, evidence-based trauma treatment, and family-involved interventions for ages 3-17 who have experienced trauma across Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto counties.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of experience with trauma-impacted youth and families.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field required.
• Two years of experience with children/adolescents and families affected by trauma preferred.
• Valid Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention services in the community.

Come talk to us about joining the Centerstone team!JOB DESCRIPTION:SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Trauma Therapist provides trauma-focused clinical services to children, adolescents, and families through the SAMHSA-funded Centerstone Trauma and Grief Treatment (C-TGT) program. This role delivers standardized assessments, evidence-based trauma treatment, and therapeutic interventions for children ages 3-17 who have experienced trauma, including neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, traumatic loss, and other trauma-related stressors.The Trauma Therapist provides individual and family therapy, actively involving caregivers in the treatment process to support healing and long-term recovery. Services are provided across Manatee, Sarasota, and DeSoto counties. The position also offers opportunities to collaborate with national trauma experts through participation in National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) meetings and related initiatives.Ideal candidates for this Centerstone Trauma & Grief Treatment position will have at least two years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families impacted by trauma. This position is available in other programs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESProvide crisis intervention services in the community.Responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and updating treatment plans with input from the client and family.Conduct clinical behavioral health assessments.Enters written documentation into Electronic Medical Record in a timely manner for all services rendered.Provide supportive and educational counseling services (individual, family and group) to develop daily living and coping skills.Assist clients with developing natural support systems. Refer, advocate, and link clients and families to additional services as needed.Complete all required agency trainings to maintain 100% compliance. Maintains departmental productivity expectations. Additional training and/or certification may be required based on specific program guidelines.Program and State-Specific Requirements:Specific to Inpatient:Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and communicate patient progress, barriers, and treatment recommendations.Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support for patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms or behavioral health emergencies.Conduct clinical assessments and contribute to treatment and discharge planning throughout the patient's hospitalization, assisting the discharge planner in evaluating barriers to discharge, identifying the safest post-discharge placement and level of care, and coordinating appropriate follow-up services and supports.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESEffectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.Ability to develop supportive relationships with persons with legal, mental health, substance use, and co-occurring issues while maintaining appropriate therapeutic boundaries.Possess knowledge of mental illness and recovery including the ability to collaborate with community partners.Understanding of populations affected by mental illness, proven skills in networking among diverse agencies, and strong planning and personnel management abilities.QUALIFICATIONSEducation LevelMaster's Degree required.Years of ExperienceMust have experience with mental health and/or co-occurring issues. One year of relevant experience is preferred.Certification/LicensureMust have a valid FL driver’s license.Physical and Work Environment RequirementsWork is performed in an office, clinical, residential, and/or community-based environment depending on role and assignment. The position may involve routine use of office, clinical, or electronic systems and equipment. Duties may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and working at a computer. Work hours may include evenings, weekends, holidays, or extended shifts based on program needs. This position is classified as sedentary work. Sedentary work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
