Academic Trauma Surgeon Opportunity
CAMC is actively seeking an Academic Trauma Surgeon that exhibits an aptitude, passion, and desire to educate residents and medical students with the willingness to participate in educational, clinical, research, and/or other scholarly activities. The surgeon will be joining a dynamic, goal-oriented team.
Located in the beautiful capital city of West Virginia, the Charleston Area Medical Center Institute for Academic Medicine is seeking a Trauma & Acute Care Surgeon for a full-time academic position in the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care & Acute Care Surgery.
The successful candidate will provide Trauma Surgery, Elective General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery services in both adult academic hospitals, one of which is an ACS-verified Level One Center with approximately 3,000 patients per year. The Acute Care Surgery service has more than 1,100 cases annually while the Division cares for approximately 1,100 patients per year in the Surgery-Trauma ICU.
In addition to supporting excellent educational opportunities for medical students and residents, the successful candidate will have the opportunity for scholarly activity supported by an internally funded, full-time research staff. Leadership opportunities are potentially available as the Division grows to include advanced training in Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.

Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) was established in 1972 and is a nonprofit, 1,138-bed regional tertiary referral center made up of seven hospitals: General Hospital, Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Memorial Hospital, Plateau Medical Center, Teays Valley Hospital, Women and Children’s Hospital, and Charleston Surgical Hospital.
