Job summary

Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital is seeking a trauma registry coder to manage case finding, data abstraction, database maintenance and reporting for the trauma registry. An associate’s degree in a health-related field is required and up to 4 years of related clinical healthcare experience can substitute.

1 year of medical coding in a hospital setting is preferred, along with data integrity and ICD-10 certification.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in a health-related field is required.
• In lieu of degree, 4 years of clinical healthcare experience or 4 years data abstraction or coding experience with High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• No experience required with Associates Degree.
• 1 year experience in medical coding in a hospital setting preferred.
• 2 years work experience with strong emphasis on data integrity and analysis preferred.
• RN - Registered Nurse licensure preferred
• CSTR - Certified Specialist Trauma Registry preferred
• ICD-10 certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs all functions of case finding, abstraction, database maintenance, report production, and patient follow-up for the trauma registry.
