Job summary

TCH Medical Center is seeking a Trauma Registrar to join the Trauma Service and ensure high-quality, data-driven care. You will work to maintain the trauma registry, coordinate reporting to the state registry, and support performance improvement through accurate data management.

The role requires an active RN license and specialized trauma registry certifications, with experience in hospital trauma data systems and EPIC integrations. Collaboration with multiple departments is essential.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in hospital trauma registry, coding, or clinical research, including a minimum of 2 years in a trauma registry.
• Active RN license at the time of hire may substitute for the required five years of experience.
• Knowledge of EPIC data import and trauma data mapping is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains Trauma Registry.
• Abstracts required information into the Trauma Registry and coordinates reporting to the Department of State Health Services as per Texas Health and Safety Code.
• Provides evidence of bi-monthly reporting to the registry.
• Demonstrates knowledge of procedures for developing and maintaining the trauma registry database.
• Performs or coordinates regular vendor-upgrades to ensure proper database functioning.
• Identifies trauma patients in the hospital data system using EPIC data import and validates data accuracy, avoiding duplicates.
• Identifies issues related to performance improvement and trends.
• Prepares data reports for Trauma Committee, M&M, and trauma site visits.
• Performs regular data entry quality checks (e.g., 10% sample each month).
• Implements improvements to the registry system with measurable outcomes.
• Coordinates internal and external data reporting.
• Supports research activities.
