Job summary

Brown University Health in Providence, RI is seeking a Trauma Registrar to support the Trauma Registry at our ACS Level I center. The registrar will enter documented injuries into the TraumaOne database, assign ICD-10 and AAAM codes, and ensure data quality for performance improvement and accreditation.

Responsibilities include timely data abstraction, validation, and collaboration with the Trauma Program Manager to optimize documentation and site visit readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; allied health degree preferred.
• Associate's or Bachelor's in Medical Record Management or related health science preferred.
• Completion of Trauma Registrar course within 9 months of hire.
• Certification in Injury Severity Scoring/AIS within 1 year of employment.
• CCA or CCS certification is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Enter documented injuries and care into the TraumaOne database, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Identify and abstract cases using trauma database inclusion criteria.
• Assign ICD-10 and AAAM codes to injuries.
• Maintain records with ≥80% completion within 60 days of discharge.
• Participate in data validation to achieve ≥95% accuracy.
