Job Description

PeaceHealth is seeking a Trauma Registrar for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $23.93 – $37.38. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This remote role requires the incumbent to work & reside in OR, WA or AK by the date of hire.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Responsibilities include managing Trauma Registry activities, facilitating quality assessment and improvement, data collection, management, analysis, and reporting of trauma program activities and results.

Details of the position:

  1. Abstract patient data in the Trauma Registry and generate reports for planning, management, and quality assurance.
  2. Maintain Trauma Committee records, policies, procedures, and forms if applicable.
  3. Participate in hospital Trauma Center designation processes.
  4. Support data entry and submission to state and other agencies in the required timeframe.
  5. Coordinate Injury Prevention database if applicable.
  6. Facilitate and oversee Trauma Registry updates, participate in data validation to ensure accuracy.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Medical Technology or equivalent work experience (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years healthcare (trauma) experience, including medical terminology and records.
  • Less than 1 year experience in abstracting and coding with ICD-10 CM (preferred).
  • Formal ICD-10 coding training (preferred).
  • Successful completion of anatomy course (preferred).
  • Within 1.5 years: Abbreviated Injury Scale certification (required).
  • Preferred: Certified Trauma Registrar and Certified Coding Associate.

Department / Location Specific Notes:

  • Minimum 1 year related experience abstracting and coding with ICD-10 CM.
  • Abbreviated Injury Scale certification required within 12 months of hire.
  • Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist required within 1.5 years.
  • Completion of American Trauma Society Trauma Registrar Course within 12 months.
  • ICD-10 for Trauma Course completed within 12 months.
