Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center has an opening for an onsite Trauma Program Manager Registered Nurse.

The Trauma Program Manager (TPM) registered nurse (RN) provides direct and indirect RN care in the emergency care setting, with additional responsibilities to include the development, implementation, operations and evaluation of the trauma program.

The TPM is considered a technical expert in the trauma field and is responsible for oversight of a highly complex patient population and program. Activities associated with the TPM role have an organizational, local, regional, state, and national impact. The TPM is responsible for directing, evaluating, and providing feedback to professional level employees who participate in the operations of the trauma program and works closely with others to promote education and research. The TPM will direct the work of other employees, occasionally from multiple cost centers, and is responsible for communication of resource needs across multiple departments.

This RN is self-directed and self-motivating, plans and conducts work with minimal direction. Able to triage every patient that enters the emergency care system safely, rapidly, and accurately. He/she is able to perform a Nursing Assessment following department policy and procedure. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Is able to respond quickly, and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

This position will be required to work a minimum of 6 hours a week in the trauma program manager role, and 6 hours in the ED in an RN role.

Skills, Knowledge, & Experience Requirements:

  • Graduated from an accredited RN School or program.
  • Unencumbered Registered Nurse Licensee in Oregon.
  • Have and maintain Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) / Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) / Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.
  • One year trauma nursing experience in an emergency care setting is required.
  • Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or equivalent certification is required.
  • Current Trauma Registry Specialist (CSTR) is required or acquired within 60 days of accepting the position.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a drive to provide exceptional service.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and computer proficiency in online software, EPIC experience a plus.

This is a part-time position up to 18 hours per week.

Employment with Southern Coos Hospital is contingent upon an acceptable pre-employment drug screening and background check.
