Job summary

UCI Health in Orange, CA is seeking a Trauma Coordinator to oversee the collection of trauma patient data for the Trauma Service and contribute to care improvement.

You will apply coding knowledge to abstract data from records, participate in education for physicians, nurses, pre-hospital personnel, and the public, and use process improvement structures to resolve problems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum 5 years of trauma care experience in ICU or ED.
  • Proficient in performance improvement and data analysis.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.

Your Role on the Team
Position Summary

The Trauma Coordinator oversees the collection of trauma patient data information relating to the UCI Medical Center Trauma Service. Will use the Process Improvement Structure to resolve identified problems and enhance trauma patient care and trauma systems operations. Utilizes coding knowledge to abstract data from patient records for analysis and trending. Participates in clinical education for physicians, nurses and pre-hospital personnel, as well as education to the public.

Required Qualifications
  • Understanding of performance improvement processes
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data
  • Minimum 5 years of experience caring for trauma patients in either the Intensive Care Unit or Emergency Department
  • Good organization skills and ability to prioritize assignments
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • ACLS certification obtained within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • MSN Degree
  • Knowledge of trauma registry usage and injury coding
