Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
• Current RN licensure in the appropriate state.
• MSN preferred; MSN required within 5 years if undergraduate degree is not BSN.
• Enrollment in MSN within 1 year of hire.
• If undergraduate degree is BSN, a Master's in a health-related program or MBA is acceptable.
• BLS required per policy.
• Previous management experience preferred.
• Certification in specialty or leadership within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Continually demonstrates and supports a Professional Practice model with interdisciplinary partners to achieve high quality patient outcomes.
• Ensures unit operations and staff comply with Nursing Practice Act and standards.
• Functions as a team member to meet unit and organizational goals while upholding quality and patient care.
• Recruitment and retention of qualified staff; ensure orientation and ongoing professional development.
• Delegate effectively; promote governance and research to improve outcomes.
• Provide nursing care, assist with treatments, procedures, and medications as needed.
• Educate patients and families; participate in performance improvement activities.
• Develop policies reflecting evidence-based practice and shared accountability.
• Manage resources and budget with staff involvement for cost-effective care.

Education

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing

RN licensure (Current)

MSN preferred

Enrollment in MSN program within 1 year

MSN graduation within 5 years if undergrad is not BSN

BSN or higher acceptable alternative (MSN/Health-related MBA)

Previous management experience preferred

BLS per policy guidelines

Professional certification within 1 year
