Job summary

The Behavioral Support Specialist at the San Diego Center for Children provides active supervision, behavioral coaching, and therapeutic support to youth in residential and school settings, implementing individualized plans using trauma-informed approaches.

You will document incidents, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, participate in trainings, and support transitions and daily living skills while maintaining safety and a positive environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Experience working with transition-age youth in coaching/educational roles
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Valid California Driver’s License or CA ID and reliable transportation
• Must be 21 years of age or older

Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision and behavioral coaching to youth in residential and school settings
• Document observations and communicate progress to supervisors and clinicians
• Respond to crises using de-escalation and SPA techniques
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and staff to support individualized treatment goals
• Attend meetings and trainings to support ongoing professional development
