Job summary

Saint Mary’s Community Services is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist to conduct street-based outreach for Transitional Age Youth (18–24) in Stockton, connecting them with emergency shelter, safety, and supportive services. This role emphasizes trauma-informed engagement, crisis intervention, and resource navigation.

You will collaborate with partner organizations, plan outreach events, and maintain outreach logs and referrals to support programs and funding requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience with homeless or runaway youth, trauma-informed care
• Ability to engage with youth in outreach settings and build trust
• Knowledge of local youth services and crisis resources

Responsibilities

• Conduct street outreach to identify and engage Transitional Age Youth (18–24) experiencing homelessness
• Build trusting relationships and provide trauma-informed engagement and crisis support
• Coordinate referrals to shelter beds, youth services, and community resources
• Maintain outreach logs, notes, and referrals using the agency data system
• Represent the organization at community events and coordinate with partner agencies
• Support collaboration with internal staff to ensure smooth transitions from street outreach to shelter and services
