Job summary

Children's Home Society of South Dakota seeks a Residential Youth Counselor to supervise children in a trauma-informed residential program. You’ll work as part of a team, provide supportive activities, and respond to emotional needs with care while upholding safety policies.

The role offers weekday evenings and weekend shifts with a minimum of 16 hours every two weeks, encouraging strong teamwork, confidentiality, and commitment to our mission of helping children and families.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1–2 years related experience; Social Work Associates preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and provide trauma-informed care.
• Participate as a team member and maintain clean, orderly unit.
• Document handoffs and daily/weekly logs; complete incident reports.
• Ensure safety policies are followed and monitor visits as prescribed.
• Engage in professional development and attend required trainings.
