Job summary

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking Relief Overnight Residential Youth Counselors to work as part of a team providing supervision and trauma informed care of children within the residential program. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• 1-2 years of experience working with children, especially those with behavioral issues, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children with trauma-informed care and engage in structured activities.
• Participate as a member of the treatment team and assist in keeping the unit clean and orderly.
• Document required handoffs and daily/weekly logs; complete incident reports as needed.
• Ensure safety standards and policies are followed; supervise phone calls and visits as directed by the child’s therapist.
• Attend required trainings and participate in weekly staff meetings.
