Job summary

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Full Time Overnight Residential Youth Counselor to work as part of a team providing supervision and trauma informed care of children within the residential program.

The role offers a competitive compensation package starting at $20.00 per hour with a $2/hour shift differential, plus comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth. Schedule rotates; weekends and nights required.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience working with children, especially those with behavioral issues.
• We offer training if you’re new to this field.
• Knowledge of and ability to use office software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and provide trauma-informed care with engaging activities.
• Participate in the treatment team and maintain a clean, orderly unit.
• Document handoffs and maintain daily/weekly logs for each child.
• Ensure safety standards and policies are followed.
• Monitor phone calls and visits as directed by the child’s therapist.
• Pursue professional development and attend required trainings and meetings.
• Fulfill primary responsibilities as needed.
