Job summary

Youth Alive in Oakland, CA is hiring a full-time Mental Health Counselor to deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive services in community settings. The role involves direct counseling for youth, families, and adults, with supervision as needed and collaboration across YA programs.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, home visits, group facilitation, and supporting youth involved with the justice system.

Qualifications

• Must hold one of the licenses LMFT, LPCC, LCSW or AMFT/APCC/ASW with BBS registration.
• Experience working with youth and families from highly stressed communities; trauma-informed care.
• Experience with youth in the juvenile/criminal justice system preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health services for youth, adults, and families as referred by Youth Alive programs.
• Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
• Conduct home visits and provide field-based services; car required.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups with youth/young adults; co-facilitate healing circles as needed.
• Complete and maintain documentation in a timely manner; comply with policies.
