Job summary

YMCA in San Diego County seeks a Mental Health Therapist to deliver individual, family and crisis counseling, and to support program outcomes for youth who have experienced trauma.

The role requires a Master’s degree in counseling-related fields, California associate registration, and strong trauma-informed care and cultural responsiveness. Hybrid schedule includes in-person and remote work, with travel within the county as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, MFT, MSW or PCC required.
• Registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an associate.
• License-eligible clinician with two years post-master’s experience preferred.
• Experience with children and families in mental health settings preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, family and crisis counseling and facilitate groups for participants.
• Educate staff on mental health topics and treatment planning goals.
• Provide information and referrals to other services and supports.
• Work independently and with a team to meet contract goals and high service levels.
• Complete counseling intake and psychosocial assessments.
• Maintain case records and data for program evaluation.
• Participate in required staff meetings and trainings.
