Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County seeks a Lifestyle Coach to guide members toward healthier habits through fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle management. You will lead group classes, provide personalized coaching, and support participants with diabetes, trauma recovery, and other health needs.

Responsibilities include showcasing proper technique, offering modifications, maintaining confidential records, and using electronic presentation equipment to manage schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• 2+ years’ experience in group exercise/fitness/nutrition.
• Equivalency qualifications considered with 6+ years of experience.
• YMCA LIVESTRONG, Enhance Fitness and ConMigo certifications required.
• Lifestyle Coach Certification required.
• Health Heart Ambassador certification required.
• CPR/AED and First Aid for Adult/Child/Infant; certifying orgs listed.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate empathy, motivate, guide, and support participants with diabetes, wellness, and trauma-related needs.
• Tailor exercise techniques for individuals with trauma or pre-diabetes or cancer.
• Lead group training classes and ensure engagement in sessions.
• Foster a positive participant experience and keep attendees involved.
• Provide guidance on form, modifications, nutrition, and safe routines.
• Use electronic presentation equipment to manage class schedules and time management.
• Build community by learning names and helping participants reach goals.
• Perform administrative duties including diabetic logs, assessments, and confidential progress charts.
• Support document audits and proper data storage of participant information.
• Monitor progress, evaluate training effectiveness, and stay updated on trauma/diabetes exercise practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
