Job summary

The YMCA of Greater San Antonio is seeking a Wellness Coach to help members reach their health goals through approved programs and supportive guidance. Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Director, you will assist members in setting long- and short-term goals and developing self-management skills for lasting behavior change.

You will monitor member progress, maintain a safe, welcoming environment, lead group classes, and participate in required trainings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, highly preferred.
• 6 months to 1 year experience in health and wellness.
• Knowledge of fitness research and program design.
• Computer literate (MS Office).
• Certifications: Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazardous Communications within first week; CPR/First Aid/AED within 60 days; YMCA certifications within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Track members’ performance and motivate continued membership and exercise adherence.
• Maintain a positive, safe and nurturing environment.
• Follow YMCA strength training and nutrition guidelines.
• Attend required trainings offered by YMCA of San Antonio.
• Engage with members on the wellness floor and in group classes.
• Ensure cleanliness and monitor equipment; follow safety procedures.
