Job summary

Hope & Healing Survivor Resource Center in Akron, OH is seeking a Victim Advocate for the Children's Advocacy Center to provide trauma-informed advocacy, crisis intervention, and referrals to survivors of violence. The role involves in-person service, safety planning, and collaboration with hospitals, law enforcement, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Degree in women’s studies, social work, criminal justice, psychology, or related field.
• If no degree, previous experience in victim advocacy or related field required.
• Must maintain valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provides crisis intervention, advocacy, education on crime victims’ rights, and trauma-informed support to survivors in diverse settings.
• Manages an individual caseload, providing ongoing advocacy, emotional support, crisis intervention, and referrals.
• Utilizes crisis intervention best practices including safety planning, trauma-informed care, and listening skills.
• Completes client documentation and statistical information accurately in compliance with agency requirements.
• Maintains anonymous/confidential record-keeping for all survivors and co-survivor contacts.
