Job summary

Towson University is seeking a Confidential Survivor Advocate to serve as the designated confidential student survivor advocate and coordinator of Survivor Advocacy Services.

The role reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Health and Well-Being and provides trauma-informed advocacy, support, resource navigation, and case coordination for students affected by sexual violence, interpersonal violence, stalking, and related trauma.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Women's and Gender Studies, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of professional experience in survivor advocacy, victim services, case management, counseling support, higher education/student affairs, public health, or a related direct service field.
  • Must complete a nationally recognized 40-hour victim advocacy training within one year of hire; credentialing expected as soon as eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential, trauma-informed advocacy, support, and crisis response services to students impacted by sexual violence, interpersonal violence, stalking, and related trauma.
  • Conduct individualized needs assessments to identify immediate concerns, safety risks, barriers to support, and ongoing service needs.
  • Coordinate referrals and facilitate warm handoffs to university and community resources, including counseling, medical care, psychiatry, Title IX, and Dean of Students Office.
