Job summary

HEALTH CARE FOR THE HOMELESS INC is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to provide outpatient SUD treatment and recovery support to youth and adults experiencing homelessness. The role emphasizes trauma-informed, client-centered care across fixed-site clinics, mobile clinics, and community settings.

You will conduct assessments, counseling, and referrals while collaborating with an integrated care team to implement SMART goals and coordinated treatment plans.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; Bachelor's preferred.
• Licensed or certified by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors (CSC-AD, CAC-AD, or LCADC) required.
• Minimum two years of experience with substance use disorders.
• Experience serving homeless populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides substance use and behavioral health assessments and interventions.
• Engages clients across clinic, mobile, and community settings.
• Delivers individual and group counseling.
• Conducts screening, triage, intake, assessment, and referrals.
