Job summary

Illumination Health + Home seeks a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to provide client services in a shelter setting, guided by a harm-reduction approach. The role emphasizes compassion, confidentiality, and collaboration across medical and social services to support recovery and stable housing.

The position requires SUD counseling certification, at least two years’ experience with unhouse populations, and bilingual English/Spanish skills.

Qualifications

• Requires a CAC/SUD counseling certification and experience with unhouse/substance populations.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Proficiency with electronic filing systems (KIPU & AICA) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide harm-reduction‑oriented counseling to clients in shelter or recuperative care facilities.
• Initiate client evaluations, assessments, care planning and goal setting on admission.
• Collaborate with medical, case management, food service and transportation teams to address behavioral health needs.
