Job summary

Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is recruiting a Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC) – Registered to provide screening, brief interventions, therapy, and referrals.

You will collaborate with a cross‑functional treatment team and may work with patients who have serious mental illness, HIV, or homelessness, developing individualized care plans and ensuring continuity of care across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field required.
• CPR/ACLS/ATLS/Advanced Resuscitation Training required.
• Registered Intern status from a CA SUD Services certifying agency required.
• Travel between sites occasionally required.
• Must have a valid CA driver’s license and auto insurance; driving record acceptable.
• CA driver’s license must be obtained within ten days of residency.

Responsibilities

• Provides substance abuse screening, brief interventions, therapy for individuals and groups.
• Coordinates referrals for patients and acts as subject matter expert on the treatment team.
• Leads and trains staff on chemical dependency issues.
• Works with patients who may have serious mental illness, HIV, or homelessness.
