Job summary

East Bay Agency for Children seeks a Behavioral Health Counselor to provide individual and group interventions in classroom settings for severely emotionally disturbed children across multiple school districts. You will collaborate with teachers and aides to deliver daily, intensive, therapeutic services designed for at-risk youth.

Reporting to the Program Director, you will engage in crisis intervention, documentation, and treatment planning, while supporting engaging activities such as

Qualifications

• BA/BS in psychology, counseling psychology, sociology, or social work; high school diploma required.
• Experience in social services and behavioral health settings preferred.
• Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Spanish bilingual highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist client in managing disruptive, assaultive, and dysregulated behavior with crisis interventions.
• Complete daily documentation on clients including notes, plans, and incident reports.
• Help clients with program transitions including bus transportation where applicable.
• Cooperate with teaching staff while supporting therapeutic services in the classroom.
• Carry out group and individual activities with clients.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and treatment planning.
• Consult with Program Director and clinicians on progress.
• Maintain program supplies for specialized projects like art and play therapy.
• Occasional driving of clients to and from home/school or activities.
