Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is seeking a compassionate Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) to join Victim Support. This on-call, part-time role provides specialized trauma-informed care to sexual assault victims, conducts forensic exams, collects evidence, and offers emotional support in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
The SANE accepts consent, educates clients, and may testify in court.
Qualifications
- RN or Nurse Practitioner with minimum of two years’ experience.
- Background in emergency medicine, women’s health services, or psychiatric medicine recommended.
Responsabilités
- Provide on call coverage for SANE exams
- Make exam client-centered and respectful of autonomy
- Obtain signed consent for examination and release of evidence
- Complete medical forensic exam with follow-up care as requested
- Discuss STI and pregnancy risks and follow-up treatment
- Discuss reporting options and support decision-making
- Provide testimony if case goes to court
- Work with SART team and maintain records
- Return SANE survey paperwork within three business days
- Attend SART/MDT meetings or obtain approval for absence
- Stay updated on Copper Shores policies for SART
- Participate in continuing education and peer review
- Promote awareness of SANE services and community outreach
