Job summary

The Home for Little Wanderers, Inc. in Walpole, MA is seeking a Full-Time Congregate Residential Counselor to support youth ages 13–19 with trauma histories in a residential setting.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care and helping youth build skills for successful family transition. The position requires passing a CORI/background check and a valid ID, with shifts that include evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

• 1+ years' experience working with youth preferred.
• HS diploma or equivalency.
• A passion for making a positive impact on the lives of kids.

Responsibilities

• Joining a dynamic team implementing trauma-informed care.
• Support youth in developing skills to transition back to families.
• Teach age-appropriate life, coping, and social skills through modeling and counseling.
• Participate in groups and activities to support youth growth and development.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment.
• Be physically active during 8–10 hour shifts.
• Participate in verbal de-escalation and physical intervention when needed.
• Work evenings, holidays, and weekend shifts as required.
