Job summary

The Residential Counselor role at Arrow-Child- is responsible for daily care and supervision of residents in a trauma-informed environment, ensuring safety and well-being during all activities.

You will supervise residents, document shift notes, support treatment plans, administer medications as ordered, and maintain professional boundaries while collaborating with clinical staff. Flexible shifts and trainings are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and at least one year of experience with children and families.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred for this role.
• Must obtain RCYCP licensure within 180 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Engage in a trauma informed model to provide physical and emotional safety for residents.
• Supervise residents in activities to observe and promote positive social behavior.
• Model and teach life skills to help residents develop relationships and social skills.
• Complete shift documentation including notes, incident reports, and health records.
• Observe clinical staff methods and participate in treatment plan implementation and group activities.
• Escort residents to groups, meals, meetings, and recreational activities.
• Maintain age-appropriate rules and expectations during work and education.
• Administer and record medication as ordered by physician or nurse.
• Provide supervision for participation in canine and equine programs as needed.
• Communicate information to support treatment and maintain professional boundaries.
• Be flexible to work varied shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.

Education
