Job summary

Arrow-Child- is seeking a Residential Counselor to provide daily care and supervision for residents on an overnight shift (11:00pm–7:00am). The role supports trauma-informed programming and safety for children and families in care.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, with at least 1 year of relevant experience; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. RCYCP licensure must be obtainable within 180 days of employment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of experience working with children and families.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Must obtain RCYCP licensure within 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Engage in trauma-informed programming to provide safety for residents.
• Supervise residents to promote positive behaviors and teach social skills.
• Model and teach life skills to help residents develop interpersonal abilities.
• Complete shift documentation (case notes, incident reports, inventory) as required by staff.
• Observe clinical staff methods and participate in treatment and group sessions.
• Escort residents to groups, meals, activities, and appointments.
• Maintain age-appropriate rules and conduct for residents in all activities.
• Administer and record medications as ordered by clinicians.
• Supervise participation in canine and equine programs as needed.
• Work to prevent inappropriate behavior in residential areas.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Maintain professional boundaries and effective communication with residents.
