Job summary

Frontier Behavioral Health in Spokane, WA is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join the MRRCT rapid response mobile outreach team. You will provide stabilization support in homes, hospitals, schools, and community settings, drawing on lived experience to guide clients through crises.

Applicants must have at least one year in recovery and a WA peer credential or Trainee credential; a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Self-identify as having one or more years in recovery from a mental health condition, substance use disorder, or both.
• Certified Peer Support Specialist or Trainee credential from WA DOH, or apply within 90 days of start date.
• Unrestricted and valid driver's license and willingness to use personal vehicle.
• Preferred: two years of experience in community behavioral health.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultures.
• Familiarity with inpatient behavioral health care facilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of treatment interventions and stabilizations during acute crisis situations.
• Provide supportive peer services and ongoing support to clients, including children and youth.
• Identify services and activities that promote recovery and reduce stigma.
• Promote personal responsibility for recovery and act as an advocate and peer support resource.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide stabilization services.
• Ensure clients and families are heard and needs are addressed.
• Engage with individuals before discharge from emergency departments or hospitals and assist with discharge planning.
• Maintain communication with MRRCT team members and other staff to ensure high-quality services.
• Serve as a peer advocate to empower individuals and families.
• Travel to see clients in the community and between work sites.
