Job summary

Freeman Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant to support behavioral health patients within a psychiatrically oriented practice. The MA will assist physicians and advanced practice providers, document care details, and maintain patient flow and education as part of a trauma-informed care approach.

The role reports to the Nurse Coordinator of Adult Psychiatric Practices and requires a high school diploma with MA certification in the relevant state.

Qualifications

• MA is trained to provide patient care activities as directed by physician/APN/RN/LPN.
• Capitalizes on trauma-informed care to support patients who have experienced trauma.

Responsibilities

• Provide total clinical needs of patients as determined by psychiatrist or APN.
• Maintain communication with nursing and physicians; manage medications and logs.
• Document in electronic health records accurately and timely.
• Facilitate patient transitions through the office visit and assist in education of the care plan.
• Perform referrals and use standing orders appropriately.
