Job summary

State of Washington’s DCYF is seeking a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor 2 (Non Permanent) in Richland, WA to support community reentry planning and aftercare services for youth. You will assess risk, coordinate services, and align with equity and inclusion goals while collaborating with multiple stakeholders.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, development of family service plans, and coordination with JR teams to maximize successful community transitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant professional experience.
• Alternative: One year as JRCA or JRC1.
• Five years total education/experience equivalent.
• The ability to take action to learn and grow.
• The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

Responsibilities

• Provide aftercare services to youth on supervision and families to support transition and reentry.
• Conduct interviews and assessments to determine risk and required level of care; prepare youth for transition.
• Model pro-social behavior and assess youth risk using Risk-Need-Responsivity principles.
• Collaborate with JRC1, JR Specialists, and other JRC2s.
• Participate in Future Planning Meetings during CTS evaluation and aftercare phases.
• Develop family service plans in consultation with families and providers.
• Work with families in home environments to support successful transitions.
• Network with law enforcement, courts, schools, treatment providers, tribes and other agencies.
